Thrive Finance – Privacy

Thrive Finance is the internal accounting system of Thrive Community Church, 10 Wiganthorpe Road, Manor, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. It is used only by the church's finance team and leadership.

What we keep

Church financial records (offerings, payments, budgets), member giving records needed for giving statements and Section 18A tax certificates, and supporting documents such as receipts and proofs of payment. Personal information is processed in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and is only visible to authorised finance users.

Google Drive

The app also holds the church directory used for rosters and pastoral care: names, contact numbers, birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other special days that members share with the church. This is used only by the pastors and leaders of Thrive Community Church to organise ministry and to send personal greetings, for example a WhatsApp message from the pastors on someone's birthday. Anyone can ask the church to stop these messages or remove their details.

If the church connects its Google account, Thrive Finance stores supporting documents and encrypted nightly backups in that Google Drive. It uses Google's drive.file permission, which only allows access to files the app itself created. It cannot see, read or change any other files in the Drive. Google user data is used only to provide these storage and backup functions, is never sold or shared with third parties, and is not used for advertising. An administrator can disconnect Google Drive at any time in Settings, and access can also be removed from the Google account's security settings.
